Statement

I am a professionally trained and working graphic designer, as well as a painter, collage and mixed media artist. My abstract work is a product of uninhibited creative thinking, linking imagination with reality. It is characterized by gritty, textural under-painting, conceptually spontaneous and unplanned mark making with bits of nervous pencil/pen scratchings, and splashes of color, form and artistic flow. The artwork invites my audience on a journey where reality and imagination are intimately joined. Paying particular attention to the balance between matter, color and form with strong composition at the center.

I create art in different styles, based on what I am feeling in the moment. Only painting or creating artwork in a specific style or medium is too constrictive to creativity so I try to "mix it up" where ever I feel the need!! "Life is too short to ONLY eat vanilla ice cream!"

1966 - Birth
1971 - Started drawing
1976 - Won First Place in local art contest
1978 - Won 3rd Place in local art contest
1986 - Started in Graphic Deisgn at LA Tech.
1989 - Earned BFA for Graphic Design
1989 - Started at first Advertising Agency
1990 - 2021 - Loss of all dignity and creative energy working for large corporations 
Feb 2021 - Started painting again in REHAB. 
March 2021 - Cleared out bedroom to make a studio. 
Present - Still painting and creating. Life is good.
